- News October 27, 2023 Building a Low-Carbon Future with Low-Carbon Cement The Climate Action Reserve recently developed the U.S. Low-Carbon Cement Protocol to incentivize the availability and use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) or alternative cementitious materials (ACMs) in cement production. The protocol offers a pathway for the voluntary carbon market to help offset costs to competitively bring these SCMs/ACMs to market, which is key for the cement industry and building/ infrastructure projects to meet environmental goals and significantly reduce emissions. - News January 30, 2023 Reserve launches process to develop China Adipic Acid Production Protocol The Climate Action Reserve is excited to announce it is kicking off the development of the China Adipic Acid Production Protocol by incentivizing the installation of N2O abatement technology at adipic acid production facilities in China. Carbon offset credits issued under this protocol will financially support and incentivize the destruction of N2O rather than it being passively vented to the atmosphere. Read more →

- News October 19, 2022 A New Path for Reducing Emissions from Cement Production Cement is a fundamental building block for construction throughout the world. In fact, it’s the second most used material globally, and demand for it is projected to increase as much as 23 percent by 2050. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the cement sector is the third-largest industrial energy consumer in the world, responsible for seven percent of industrial energy use, and it is the second-largest industrial emitter of CO2, producing seven percent of global CO2 emissions. The IEA also cites that the direct CO2 intensity of cement production increased about 1.5 percent per year from 2015-2021. Read more →
